Race week is its own kind of training, the kind where the work isn't about getting fitter, it's about not undoing all the fitness you already earned. This is the week your nervous energy wants to convince you that one more hard ride or one more "just to be sure" run will make a difference, and it won't, except in the wrong direction. The real job now is tapering smart, eating and drinking like you mean it, organizing your gear so race morning doesn't turn into a scavenger hunt, and getting your head in a calm, confident place. Whether this is your first triathlon or your fifteenth, the principle is the same: the work is done, and this week is about arriving at the start line rested, fueled, and ready, instead of frazzled, sleep-deprived, and double-checking your tire pressure for the ninth time. Trust the training, trust the taper, and let the week do what it's supposed to do: get you there in one piece, ready to go.
